Akshay Kumar the ‘Khiladi’ in Bollywood was well known for his string of hits.He carried on the action hero image for almost a decade, but once it started getting monotonous for the audiences, he reinvented his image as a comic actor, which worked wonders for him in Bollywood.

After the release of ‘Hera Pheri’ in 2000, Akshay became more popular as a comedy hero, he then starred in a number of comedy films, like Awara Paagal Deewana (2002), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and Garam Masala (2005), which succeeded at the box office.In 2006, he starred in a sequel to Hera Pheri titled Phir Hera Pheri that was a huge success. He continued to experiment with roles playing the shy guy in Jaan-E-Mann and a stage actor in Bhagam Bhag.

Ayesha loves kids

On the sets of Paathshala recently, Ayesha Takia was caught having a ball with a bunch of kids. She was busy shooting for Ahmed Khan’s new film.

The sets looked like a huge boarding school, much like Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par. Ayesha informed, “It’s lovely to be around children. They can shoot for twenty hours together and not run out of energy.”

As of now she’s busy enjoying their zest, compliments and queries. She added, “They compliment me on my hair. One of them asked me if my cheeks are real.”

Ayesha Takia dubs for a cheetah

Strange things keep happening to the unconventional Ayesha Takia. Last year she was meant to play only one role in Anurag Kashyap’s “No Smoking”. She ended up playing two.

This year she plays a dubbing artiste in Rohit Shetty’s “Sunday” and dubs for a baby cheetah in Nikhil Advani’s animation film.

“It’s all so strange,” Ayesha laughed. “When I decided to be part of ‘Sunday’, I just wanted to have fun after the serious ‘Dor’ and even more serious ‘No Smoking’. And I did have loads of fun,” Ayesha told IANS.

Esha Deol turns item girl for ‘Sunday’

Esha Deol has so far shunned item numbers. But for Rohit Shetty’s movie Sunday , she has made an exception.

When the film’s producer Kumar Mangat first sent a message to Esha to do an item song in ‘Sunday’, the actress showed no interest. But then Mangat personally called Esha and asked her if she would do the song.

Esha laid down a condition. She said she would do the song only if it was better than ‘Beedi Jalaile’ in Omkara .

When Esha heard the song, titled ‘Kya Kashmakash Hai’, she liked it immensely and agreed to do it.

When we arrived on the sets of Ahmed Khan’s Paathshala recently, we saw Ayesha Takia and a bunch of kids having a ball. It was only later that we realised the cameras were rolling and the freewheeling group were shooting. The sets resemble a huge boarding school and from the looks of it, academia was never this much fun. “It’s lovely to be around children. They can shoot for twenty hours together and not run out of energy,” she says admiringly. Ayesha’s role had to be snipped to accommodate the kids. But she’s taken it with a pinch of salt for the film, the great script and of course Ahmed and his wife, Shaira who are family friends.

Ayesha special b’day gift from beau

While everyone lavishes expensive gifts on birthdays, Ayesha Takia’s beau restaurateur Farhan Azmi had a ‘cheesy’ gift for her birthday. He celebrated Ayesha’s 23rd birthday yesterday with a Philadelphia cream New York cheese cake baked by himself! As the actress is allergic to chocolates, he made a strawberry cheesecake.

Farhan brought in Ayesha’s birthday at her Versowa home with a surprise birthday party on April 9. Farhan says, “Ayesha didn’t want a big party so we celebrated her birthday at home. I baked a a Philadelphia cream New York cheese cake specially for her at my restaurant Cafe Basilico.

De Taali - Not worth a single clap

‘De Taali’ which sounds all fun and youthful with its title and look of the film brings E Niwas after ‘My name is Anthony’. With the likes of Riteish , Ayesha , Aftab and Rimi Sen ; one would expect a laugh riot but the outcome nowhere calls for a single clap.

Synopsis…

Paglu (Riteish), Amu (Ayesha) and Abhi (Aftab) are buddies, an integral part of each other’s lives. Amu is a girl amongst the two guys, though Paglu and Abhi don’t treat her like one. Paglu is the one who makes her realize about her feelings for Abhi. Life, however, takes a serious turn when Abhi falls in love with Kartika aka Anjali (Rimi Sen).
