A French actress for Govinda!

September 8th, 2008

Our very own desi actor Govinda is now set to romance a French beauty in a film by director Jagmohan Mundhra .

After making a believable pair with South African actress Shannon Esrechowitz in the last year’s super-dud Salaam-e-Ishq , Govinda is now set to tag up with a French actress in the Hindi remake of the Hollywood comedy ‘The 40-year-old Virgin’.

In the film, Govinda plays a 40 year-old NRI nerd who stays mostly indoors and therefore remains a virgin until his friends decide to help him get some sex.

girl power, Dor and Fire

September 3rd, 2008

finally got around to seeing writer/director Nagesh Kukunoor’s acclaimed 2006 film Dor, and while I’m not familiar with Kukonoor’s other works (Iqbal, Hydrabad Blues), this is one movie I won’t soon forget. Stunning visuals of Rajesthan and Himachal Pradesh set the backdrop for two equally stunning and unique female characters, Meera (Ayesha Takia), and Zeenat (Gul Panag). There are all kinds of pithy phrases to sum up this movie, deeming it a story about the struggle of women, about life in a patriarchal world, etc. But at the end of the day, all I can think to sum it up is, “I liked it better than Fire. It was a more effective lesbian film than Fire.”

September 2nd, 2008

Akshay Kumar was all set to do the action show, Fear Factor, this season. However, the show is now facing a few hiccups. The actresses who had been approached to accompany the actor are not too keen to sign on the dotted line. In fact, quite a few of them have backed out!

Ayesha Takia, Celina Jaitley, Anjana Sukhani, Hrishita Bhatt and Neha Dhupia were approached to perform some death-defying stunts, but none of these girls seem to be in a mood to be a part of the show.

While actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Shah Rukh Khan and Suniel Shetty are thriving in the business world, their counterparts Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rai and Preity Zinta are also giving them tough competition.

September 1st, 2008

Weight loss is not restricted to overweight celebrities any more. The fad is catching on among Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor, Ayesha Takia and veterans like Om Puri too.

For the last few weeks, Om Puri has been regularly visiting a health clinic.

“I had developed a paunch. When I saw myself in ‘Don’, I realised how hideous I was looking. I’ve been working on it. I’ve already lost about nine kilos, and I intend to knock off another nine in the next few months.”

So what’s his formula?

The actress addresses all the rumours

Ayesha Takia has been in the news of late for more reasons than one – her alleged liposuction to get into shape, for setting up a boutique hotel in Goa with boyfriend Farhan Azmi, and also for her impending marriage with him later in the year.

The pretty actress, who has finally shed all those extra kilos, is now looking svelte and sexy. Refuting all the rumours about her liposuction, Ayesha said that there has been a lot of talk about the means of her weight loss, but all that is not true. She also said that she has got into shape by hitting the gym and there is nothing more to it.
