Bollywood marriages in 2009 have been quite happening. This year Bollywood has seen a lot of marriages from the very beginning till the end of this year. Some of the best known faces in tinsel town have tied the knot. But is this premise true or not let us check on that.

The year started with Ayesha Takia’s marriage to her long term boyfriend Farhan Azmi on 1st March 2009. Farhan is the son of a politician Abu Azmi. Well to tell you the truth Ayesha at least was young and her career (if any) was almost over inBollywood. So she had taken the right path and left Bollywood for good!

Another hyped marriage of the year was that of Big Brother’s girl Shilpa Shetty to her beau Raj Kundra, the London based businessman. Even winning Big Brother could not help her win back her fans (if there are some), so she had to tie the knot on 22nd November 2009.

Apart from them the year saw Amrita Arora (come on now, please do not ask who?) got hitched to her newfound boyfriend (of course she had a string of them) Shakeel Ladak. Isha Koppikar (the girl who danced on an item song called ‘Khallas’ years ago) married her boyfriend restaurateur Timmy Narang. Now if you all have such difficulty in locating these so-called well known faces, don’t you think that these ladies have done right thing by getting married without delaying any more?

She has been married for a month, but Ayesha Takia is still the blushing bride. Seated in the green room of photographer Vicky Idnani’s studio, touching up her make-up for a photo shoot, the 23-year-old actor laughs, “Seriously, being married makes me realise we should have done this the very first day we met. I recommend it to everyone.”

Takia and restaurateur Farhan Azmi dated for five years before they finally tied the knot. While many in Bollywood dated, broke up and found new love, Azmi and Takia went about town, professing their love for each other. “We got into the relationship knowing well that we would get married,” she says.

There have been rumours that the daughter-in-law of a political family — Farhan’s father Abu Azmi is a Samajwadi Party MP — would not return to the glamour world, but Takia is now shooting for Revathy S Sharma’s untitled film. She is still virginal in certain matters, though. The actor has maintained that, marriage or not, she won’t kiss onscreen nor will she wear a bikini. But in times like these when bikinis make the fortunes of top actors, why the fuss? “I’ve been brought up to believe it is my work that matters. And if the directors feel I am asking for too much, they are free to approach other actors.”

One of her career’s greatest ironies is that while her performances have received a slew of awards, none of her films has been a hit. “Of course, I would like my films to do well, but I am pretty used to them doing average business. It would be an insult if they ran down my performance,” she says. Would things change with ‘Paathshala’ where she acts opposite Shahid Kapoor, and ‘Wanted: Dead and Alive’ with Salman Khan? “I am really excited about the latter because it is a typical masala film, something I have never done before,” she grins. Sharma’s woman-oriented film will have Takia go de-glam again, which seems to be the latest trend in the industry. “For me, it isn’t about following a trend. If I was part of the numbers game, I would have done very different films,” she says.

Even after her marriage Ayesha will be seen acting in the films as she enjoys working in films. Apart from acting, the actress and her fianc are also planning to build chain of hotels in Goa and as this project completes and will be on track then further they have plans to have hotels around the country too.

Well this is something called brilliance, now Ayesha will not just be an actress but also a business person.

Currently she is having many films in her kitty that includes ‘Eight by Ten’ with Akshay Kumar, ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ with Salmaan Khan, and an animated movie ‘Ab Dilli Door Nahin’ with Govinda and Akshaye Khanna and Paathshaala.

Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia (heroine of Puri Jagannath’s Super in Telugu) will tie the knot with her long-time boyfriend Farhan Azmi, a restaurateur and son of Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi, on March 1st in Mumbai as per Muslim tradition.

From Tollywood, action hero Nagarjuna and director Puri Jagannath are expected to attend the reception to be held on March 2nd. In fact, the wedding was supposed to take place in December, but was postponed due to the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Ayesha Takia is currently busy with six Hindi films: Prabhu Deva’s Wanted: Dead And Alive opposite Salman Khan, Nagesh Kukunoor’s Eight by Ten opposite Akshay Kumar, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai!, Naughty at Forty, Milind Ukey’s Paathshala opposite Shahid Kapoor and Nikhil Advani’s Ab Dilli Door Nahin. Wanted Dead And Alive is the Hindi remake of Tamil hit Pokkiri, starring Vijay and Asin in the lead.

The two lovers have been going steady for many years and have decided to solemnize their relationship through marriage. We hope that even after marriage, the actress continues doing good work and gives us subtle and fine performances like the one in Dor, a small budget film in which she plays the role of a young widowed Rajasthani woman living in a traditional joint family. She went on to win several awards for her performance in Dor, including the Zee Cine Critics’ Award for Best Actress.
