Ayesha Takia who has been lying low post her marriage has signed Nakesh Kukunoor’s film where she will be seen in a no makeup avatar.

You have seen her in a deglam look in Nagesh Kukunoor’s critically acclaimed ‘Dor’. Ayesha Takia will once again be seen sans any makeup in Nagesh Kukunoor’s next film. Ayesha has signed Nagesh Kukunoor’s next film.

Ayesha who was in talks with Nagesh since past few months has finally signed the film. “I am going to shoot for Nagesh Kukunoor’s film next month,” confirms Ayesha without giving much detail about the film.

Speaking about her look in the as yet untitled film, she informs that she will be seen in deglam avatar. She is going back to her black hair to get the perfect natural look. “There’s going to be a no makeup this time too. I have to get my hair back to black. It might be a nice change in color and I am looking forward to it,” said Ayesha who is excited to work again with Nagesh after Dor and 8 x 10 Tasveer .

This is going to be Ayesha’s third film with Nagesh. Nagesh’s Dor gave her recognition as an actress. Unfortunately 8 x 10 Tasveer couldn’t create the same magic on box office. Let’s see how his next film fares for Ayesha!

We think Ayesha Takia is absolutely adorable and humble as a person and quite a fine actress indeed with films like Dor and Socha Na Tha in her kitty. She will be seen in Paathshala this week. We think she could have done much better than she has and point out some of her mistakes.

3 mistakes of Ayesha Takia’s life : Ayesha Takia
Pathetic Clothes

She has designer friends and travels abroad quite often so we don’t understand why she wears boring and/or ghastly clothes.

How hard is it to hire a stylist or ask for a second opinion? Why does she always wear polo-neck or full-sleeved tees?

This Arian gal is bubby, vivacious and a talent house waiting to shine in her light. Ayesha Takia, who started her career at a tender age of four where she became popular with the “I am Complan girl” campaign, has only grown strength to strength with each of her film. Her first film Tarzan: The Wonder Car may not have done well at the box office but she did win a Filmfare best debut award in 2004 for it. She proved her mettle in Dor which is probably one of her best film till date.

Even after marriage, Ayesha is still going strong and with her film Paathshaala up for release, her fans are curious to know how she plans to pave her journey further, and we at Bollywood Hungama give you a chance to chat up with now her, exclusively on our Celebrity Video Chat on Friday, April 9, at 1615 hrs IST.

By Jilawatan

She’s even more talkative than she was before marriage — obviously, becoming Mrs. Ayesha Farhan Azmi has made Ayesha Takia even more effervescent. What’s more, hubby seems to have proved professionally lucky for her, for “Wanted,” which released Sept. 18, is her first-ever hit and blockbuster. “Wanted,” directed by India’s top choreographer, Prabhudeva, making his filmmaking debut, stars Salman Khan as a hit-man who comes up against corrupt Mumbai police and a doozy of a bad guy (National Award winner Prakash Raj).

Producer Boney Kapoor announced Sept. 25 that he was planning a sequel to “Wanted,” which he said earned Rs. 40 crores its first week alone.

Indian PR being what it is, the interviews are held a mere three days before the release so we have to look at a pre-“Wanted” feel in her answers.

For those who came in late, Ayesha Takia’s first film, “Socha Na Tha,” also marked the debuts of Abhay Deol and Imtiaz Ali, but it was delayed and so she made her first impression with Abbas-Mustan’s “Taarzan – The Wonder-Car” (2004). The only film of Ayesha’s that did average business was “Shaadi Se Pehle” (2006), since even films like “Dil Maange More!!!” with Shahid Kapoor, “8X10 Tasveer” with Akshaye Khanna, big films like “Salaam-e-Ishq” and “Shaadi No.1” and even her acclaimed “Dor,” failed to meet box-office expectations. Before that, she was a child model who was a star in her own right who according to her then-co-child star Shahid Kapoor was into throwing tantrums! We start the interview on that note.

Excerpts from an interview with India-West:

Q: Met Shahid Kapoor recently and he says that as a child he hated you as you would throw tantrums and make him cool his heels on the sets!

A: (Laughs loudly) He is right! I was a brat, since I was a star of sorts and he had started modeling after me! But when we worked on “Dil Maange More!!!” and “Fool’N’Final” we got along fine.

Q: How similar is the character of “Wanted” to your real self?

A: I think that no matter how different a character I play, a little bit of me seeps into every role. I am keeping my fingers crossed now — “Wanted” is a good product, and what is important is that the film should be a hit.

Q: How was the rapport with Salman Khan? And does the age difference show?

A: Actually, we girls have to be careful about looks. Men as a rule start looking great as they age, and that’s true of Salman Khan too. My husband Farhan looks hotter than when I first met him and so I wonder how he will look when he touches 35! It’s we women who have to worry! Salman was a great co-star — very caring and supportive.

Q: Are you really quitting films now that you are married?

A: Frankly, I have no clue where that came from! I never said that I am quitting, nor does my husband want me to do so. I will act as long as the people want to watch me. My next film is Revathy’s next, with Jaya Bachchan. I am looking for a blend of commercial appeal and scope for acting; I have always done that.

Q: What do you think of Abhay Deol, your first co-star’s, present work?

A: I am really proud of Abhay and where he has reached doing the kind of work that he believes in. Let me tell you a secret — among my own films, our “Socha Na Tha” is still my favorite, not “Dor” that got me more acclaim.

Q: Do you have any wish-list of co-stars?

A: Shah Rukh Khan, of course! (laughs) I recently shook hands with him at an awards function and did not feel like washing it forever!

Gorgeous Ayesha has done commendable work in Dor and 8 x 10 Tasveer. And now she is all set to spellbound the audience with her performance in her recent movie ‘Wanted’.

She is extremely excited about her forthcoming release and expects that she stands up to the expectations of her fans. She is full of respect and admiration for her co-star Salman Khan. She considers Salman doing justice to every co-actor’s role and not over-shadowing them.

She is all in praises for him and said, “He is very generous and incredible. Many actors try to steal their co-stars’ screen space; but Salman is super-confident and secure. He will never do that. I find that truly admirable.’’

Ayesha is selective about choosing film as she lays more importance on quality than quantity. She says “I want to do films that will be remembered, not run-of-the-mill stuff where I stand behind looking pretty as a picture.”

Presently, she is doing just one more film, which is Revathy Verma’s Aap Ke Liye Hum with Jaya Bachchan and Raveena Tandon.

Ayesha clarifies that nothing has changed after she got married. She insists that everything is still the same with her and that she is committed to her work the same way as she was before marriage.

The actress says about her married life that “Getting hitched hasn’t changed anything. I feel exactly the same. I was seeing Farhan for five years before I married him. We knew from day one that we were committed to each other and would marry. I’m now officially his wife, and though our marriage is six months old, everything around me is the same. I still spend most of my days with my husband, I shoot whenever I have to, I continue to take interest in the business that mom and I have set up. I repeat nothing has changed.’’

Nagesh Kukonoor’s Dor could be the only film which could do justice to Ayesha’s acting talent. The actress hasn’t had much commercial success and frankly has had many misses in the styling department as well.

So with the recent news of her retiring from films and starting her own fashion line, had StarBoxOffice wondering whether or not the actress was in the right frame of mind or no! We take a dekko at the fashion casualties Ayesha has committed and when she managed to shine.

“I have been fascinated by Fashion and like any other girly girl, I love to dress up, I will start my own line probably next year,” confirmed Ayesha. But look at her here and you wonder, why would an upcoming fashion designer wear a velvet high neck and leggings. Velvet and leggings are dead and gone with and a high neck for a heavy upper body, we thought you’d know better! She kept insisting her label will be trendy and sporty, we wonder how?

Ayesha Takia, whose powerhouse performance in “Dor” established her credentials as a serious actor, says the role only tapped “five percent” of her talent.

“I never expected this kind of praise. It’s of course delightful. But let me also tell you, I feel ‘Dor’ just taps five percent of my abilities. There’s so much more to my abilities,” Ayesha told a news agency.

“But how would people know about it unless they see what I can do. I must thank (director) Nagesh Kukunoor for helping me connect with my character of Meera. At first I didn’t quite understand her world, her joy and pain. She’s such a simple person and we live in such a complicated world.

“But Nagesh explained Meera’s world to me. At first it felt odd to get into her clothes and her world. But soon I got used to it. Today I definitely feel I’ve grown as an actress. But like I said, there’s a lot more to me than Dor,” she says.

She talks about how Kukunoor signed her for the film. “He saw me in my first film ‘Socha Na Tha’ and also in ‘Yun Hota To Kya Hota’. That’s all it took. I guess I need more directors with a vision about my career.”

While her forthcoming films like “Fool & Final” and “Kya Love Story Hai” are hardly expected to build on the “Dor” advantage, Ayesha does have Nikhil Advani’s “Salaam-e-Ishq” where she has an interesting part in an ensemble cast.

But a role that Ayesha must grab is the one in Kukunoor’s next film, which he wants to start soon with John Abraham.

Ayesha sighs. “I’ve to do what’s offered to me. A film like ‘Dor’ doesn’t happen everyday. Yes, Nagesh has offered me his next. And I’d be a fool to let it go. There’s only one problem, and a very major one.

“The role in Nagesh’s next requires me to do a kissing scene. And under no circumstance will I kiss in a film, no matter how tempting the role.”

A kiss seems an unlikely reason to turn down a role with a director who virtually changed Ayesha’s career.

But she’s adamant. “I’m sorry, but a kiss is out of the question. When I came to this industry, I set down some do’s and don’ts for myself. And I plan to stick by them.”

Isn’t there any way the director and the actress can work this out? “It is a problem,” Ayesha concedes. “For the girl’s sexuality is a very important part of her character. Nagesh feels it won’t work without the kiss. I respect that. For now I’m happy being surrounded by all these good vibes for ‘Dor’.”

Whether Kukunoor will make the required change to accommodate her in the project remains to be seen, but Ayesha is sure of one thing – no kissing. Not even for Kukunoor.

Direction : Nagesh Kukunoor

Blend simplicity with substance and sashay down Bollywood’s box office with a deafening uproar: That seems to be director Nagesh Kukunoor’s secret formula of filmmaking. After Iqbal, that soul-stirring testament to human endeavour, he comes up with Dor, a film that touches your soul once again and makes you end up doing Salaam Namaste to the brave new spirit that’s currently making desi cinema that biggest bet in the field of entertainment. And no, we aren’t talking of the blockbuster variety only; the kind which dazzles with its crorepati budget and its Hollywod-ishtyle SFX. Here, we’re saluting the New Wave of New Age creativity which is completely homegrown and borrows nothing from nowhere. Iqbal, Omkara, Munnabhai and now Dor… just to name a few.

Dor makes a strong feminist statement without being strident or shouting slogans. And all along, the riveting friendship between the two polarised women and the events that bring them together, keep tugging at your heart. Two men leave for Saudi Arabia in search of bread and butter from two distant places, leaving behind two young women. The first, Zeenat (Gul Panag) is a fiercely independent woman from a small town in Himachal while the second is Meera (Ayesha Takia), a traditional Rajput bride who is content to live most of her life behind the veil. Zeenat’s husband is arrested for the murder of Meera’s husband and sentenced to death by the Saudi authorities. The only way the distraught woman can save her husband is by seeking Meera’s forgiveness. But how does she find Meera and how does she convince her to sign the clemency papers: that’s the dilemma and the drama of this mesmerising little parable on ‘insaniyat’ and women’s emancipation.

Apart from the unusual plot, it is the performances which leave you breathless. Shreyas proves that Iqbal was no accident and Gul gives one of the most convincing portrayals of her career. But it is Ayesha Takia who simply blows your breath away. Her journey from joyous subjugation — where she is content to dance before her husband and be at the beck and call of her in-laws — to silent emancipation is absolutely endearing. What’s the girl been doing gyrating to garish tunes all this while! Don’t give Dor a miss.
